Where we're going: Previews of coming events
Mobility World Congress, 13-15 October 2009, Hong Kong Dominic Arena, BT Telconsult regional director for Asia Pacific, will be one of the leaders of the pre-event workshop "Outsourcing and Managed Services for Telco Cost Optimization" on 13 October.
Global Carrier Community Meeting, 20-21 October, London Peter Zimmers, GTM head of voice business management, will participate in the panel session "An overview of the telecom market in Europe".
Asia Pacific Service Provider VIP Summit, 17-18 November 2009, Singapore Mike DeVito, vice president for Global Telecom Markets (GTM) in the Americas and Asia Pacific, will present "Industry survey: Analysing the key trends in business and network transformation". Dominic Arena, BT Telconsult regional director for Asia Pacific, will participate in the panel session "FTTx delivery: The Carriers commercial Challenges".
Mobile 2.0 - Content & Services 2009, 23-25 November 2009, Berlin Jens Specht, GTM head of strategy for enhanced platform services (EPS), will participate in the panel session "Leveraging the benefits of converging business models to take the competitive advantage in the mobile content market".

Regulatory Cost Modelling & Accounting, 25-29 May 2009, Berlin Laurence Kubiak, BT Global Services head of UK regulation and of economic analysis, presented "Understanding how to develop an efficient regulatory cost model".
International Telecoms Week (ITW), 1-3 June, Washington, DC, USA President of GTM Oscar Ruiz; VP of Global Voice Management Peter Morley; VP of GTM US, Canada and Asia Pacific Mike DeVito; and, voice business directors Bernie Shaw, Joseph Alvarez and Tony Hamilton represented GTM at ITW to meet with our customers from the Americas, Asia Pacific, Africa and Europe.

Next Generation Broadband Forum 2009 (imbX), 16-18 June, Singapore Tim Cowen, BT Global Services general counsel and commercial director, presented "Next-generation networks play in the broadband market - What's next?" and participated in the panel discussion on "Driving the next-gen NBN for Singapore's economic and social growth".
Handelsblatt's Telecom Market Europe, 17 June 2009, Düsseldorf, Germany Luis Alvarez, president of BT EMEA & Latin America, will present "From managed services to cloud computing - A road map for 21st Century enterprises". Karsten Lereuth, CEO of BT Germany, will participate in the panel session "Cloud, Virtualisation, Unified Communications - Leading to a new dimension of convergence?"
Broadband World Forum Europe, 7-9 September 2009, Paris Marc Timmermans, director for interoperability in BT Wholesale Markets, led a session on "The Importance of Interoperability Services to Help Service Providers Thrive in a Changing Communication World". Christoph Schnorrenberger, GTM head of business development for IP & IP convergence, participated as a panellist.
Several other BT executives spoke at this conference:
- George Williamson, director of strategic network design, Openreach, chaired the breakout session "Developing an Effective NGA Value Chain - Progress on NGA Pilot Deployments in the UK".
- Rob Thomas, director of managed product solutions for BT Wholesale, joined the breakout session "Business Cases and Technology Choices for Mobile Backhaul". Rob also joined George Williamson's session on the NGA value chain.
- George Nazi, president 21CN for global networks and computing infrastructure in BT Innovate & Design, participated in the breakout session "Demystifying SaaS/Cloud Computing: The Myths versus the Facts".
- Jeremy Steventon-Barnes, project director, network architecture for BT Innovate & Design participated in the breakout session "Moving toward Ultimate Broadband: xPON Business Models and Technologies".
- Cameron Rejali, managing director of products for BT Wholesale spoke on the plenary panel: "Telecoms in Recession: Returning to Profitable Growth."
Asian Carriers Conference, 9-12 September, Cebu, Philippines Andrew Dodsworth, GTM head of strategy and products, and Vivek Malhan, GTM regional sales director for South Asia, attended the conference to meet with GTM customers and prospects.
Viet Nam Telecoms Growth Conference 2009, 23-24 September 2009, Hanoi Vivek Malhan, GTM regional sales director - South Asia, will present "Redefining the customer experience and building a sustainable business model for profitable future growth".
