From the desk of Steve Kelly

Dear readers,

Summer is already about to start and before it does, I want to take this opportunity to tell you how we are building innovation into our portfolio, especially in voice. Last year BT changed its approach to the supplier side of traditional voice services; we negotiated a major consolidation of our supply arrangements to ensure we can continue to offer you a very competitive cost base for voice. Differentiating BT’s offer, we combine this world-class cost base with an unparalleled quality layer we think nobody else provides. BT voice services can help you succeed in your marketplace.

We remain committed to the global voice markets, as we demonstrate by our continuous investment in innovation to drive our portfolio and offer you new services. We focus this innovation both on the traditional side and on IP and new-wave services. Let me show you what I mean:

First, in our Premium Wholesale Solutions portfolio we introduced new services such as SMS Hubbing and Sigtrans (IP Signalling) for our RoamConnect services. With these and our solutions for Managed Single Access (MSA) and for Global Inbound Services we bring a wealth of new opportunities to you which I would like to tell you about in this issue of our newsletter and in our conversations to come. Please see "Let’s Talk Voice" in this issue of Global Telecom News for more information.

Second, around ITW in Washington this year we officially announced the global availability of our IP Exchange, part of our Interoperability portfolio. We introduced you to Interoperability in the past two issues of this ezine. You can find more information in the issue of January - "BT IP interoperability: a new world of communication" - and of March - "Mobile and Fixed IP eXchange helps service providers address new customer requirements".

And third, innovation is taking voice services to the next level. Thanks to our acquisition of Ribbit, a leading software phone company in the US, BT can now bring you a platform to enable the creation of new and exciting voice applications that bridge the gap between classic voice services and new IP-based offers. Ribbit can give you an edge over the competition in new-wave and IP-based voice, helping you attract new customers and enter over-the-top markets. To see how we can help you set the pace in innovation in your markets, please read the article "Taking wholesale voice services to the next level with Ribbit" in our ezine.

Of course I would be delighted to talk to you about these new services. If you're going to the EMEA Service Provider VIP Summit in Istanbul I'll see you there.

Please don't hesitate to contact me. I very much look forward to hearing from you and to meeting you again.

Best regards,

Steve
